Updating the default compression algorithm to zstd in postmarketos-mkinitfs broke devices using initramfs-extra. Upon reboot they will now drop to a debug shell, the log will show Extract /boot/initramfs_extra and gzip: invalid magic.
This will be fixed once !79 is integrated.
Recovery
To recover you will need to boot to another install (SD card, USB drive) and modify these files and run mkinitfs from a chroot.
- Create a file
/usr/share/mkinitfs/files/zstd.fileswith the contents/usr/bin/zstd - Edit
/usr/share/initramfs/init_functions.shand changegzipon line 655 tozstd - Run
mkinitfsand reboot
